Tools: what they do and which to get

Tools are permanent unlocks that make one skill faster and pay it more XP. Early on they're the cheapest lasting upgrade there is: a single 1-in-100 drop is worth a few percent XP per hour in its skill, for good.

What a tool does

What one tool is worth

Skilling focus

A T1 tool in a skill you train adds roughly this much XP per hour. Its speed cut counts for more the faster your actions already are:

Your action timeGathering skillProcessing skill
9 s+3.7%+2.6%
6 s+4.2%+3.2%
4 s+5.1%+4.1%

Assumes success under 100% and no double gather yet. Processing tools give material save instead of double gather, which saves materials but adds no XP.

Combat focus

Which to get first

Skilling focus

  1. T1 tools for the skill pair you train most. Seven Feeble mobs, from Slay 9 to 25, each drop one gather and process pair at 1 in 100. A 1-in-100 drop takes 69 loot rolls for an even chance. See When to start combat for which mob drops which pair.
  2. The T1 Lantern from Feeble Rage Slime (Slay 1) at 1 in 500. It's worth a T1 tool in every skill at once, so it's worth the longer grind.
  3. T2 tools from Dire mobs at 1 in 250, once you reach Slay 30.

Combat focus

  1. The Culling Knife and the Enchanted Trainers from Feeble Skeleton and Feeble Imp, at 1 in 100. They help every fight.
  2. Combat tools from dungeons. Each completed Feeble Dungeon run rolls each of its tools at 1 in 100 per player; Dire is 1 in 200, up to 1 in 1,600 for Ancient.
  3. The Lantern, for the same reasons as above.

Where each tool drops

Mob drops roll per loot roll and drop once per mob. Dungeon tools roll once per player per completed run. Open a tool to see where each tier comes from.
