Collection logging: what pays and where to start
Every new collection log entry pays Luck XP, and a fuller log raises the Collector bonus. Choose slay mobs by how many of their rares you're still missing and how common those are.
- A new entry pays 10 Luck XP per Luck level: 240 at Luck 24, 1,200 at 120.
- Luck and Alms both at 25 give +1% XP to every skill. Luck's only XP sources are Lucky tasks and new entries.
- The Collector bonus grows in a straight line with the share of the log you've filled, to +10% XP at 100%.
- On slay mobs, go where your missing rares are most common. Feeble tools at 1 in 100 come first.
- Loot rolls, not kills, decide drops. Corruption gives you extra rolls, and The Extender keeps you on a mob for longer.
What the log pays
- Luck XP. A brand-new entry pays 10 Luck XP per Luck level. Luck is otherwise only trained by Lucky tasks.
- The Luck and Alms perks. When Luck and Alms both reach 25, every skill gets +1% XP; at 50, 75, 100 and 120 it rises to +2, +3, +4 and +5%.
- The Collector bonus. It scales in a straight line with how much of the log you've filled: half the log gives half of every bonus. At 100% it's +10% XP, +10% crit chance and damage, +10% movement speed, −1 s per action, +10% success, +10% double gather and +10% material save. The log had 2,273 slots when the game's developers last tuned it, so each entry adds only a sliver. The total grows as content ships, so your percentage can dip after an update.
What fills the log
New entries come from rare drops, raid drops, chest tools and compasses, quests, pets, shinies, capes and relics, and from skilling. Quests are one source, and they pay their own rewards on top.
The skilling sections have one entry per item: each tier's raw and processed goods, each piece you can smith, craft or imbue, and each potion. They pay Luck XP like any other new entry and count toward the Collector bonus. A developer note says only doing the activity that makes the item stamps them, never chests, drops or barter, so a T1 ore from a chest doesn't count as mining. Training a skill therefore fills the log as you go, and the entries you haven't made yet are the ones to aim for.
Near Luck 24, one level takes about 13 new entries. If Alms is already at 25, that is the distance to the +1% XP.
Choosing slay mobs
Every kill is a slay-task kill now, so rares roll on all of them. To steer toward a mob, use its lever under Skill Customize → Slay. Slay masters unlock by Slay level and you can't pick a higher one early, so the mobs you can aim at depend on your Slay level. What matters is how many of a mob's rares you're still missing and how common they are:
- Feeble mobs with tools first. Their tools drop at 1 in 100, while their gear and rings are 1 in 250 and their gems and lotto rares 1 in 500. See When to start combat for which mob drops which tools.
- Then the rest of a mob's list. One-time drops stop dropping once you have them, so a mob gets slower to finish as its log fills. The mob drop tables show, for your loot rolls, the chance you'd have the rest by now and how lucky you've been.
- Know where to stop. A 1-in-500 drop takes 347 loot rolls for an even chance and 1,151 for 90%. Gems and lotto rares sit at 1 in 500 or rarer on every mob, so a full log on one mob can take a long time.
More loot rolls per kill
- Corruption. A slay-task kill has a 1% chance to corrupt the mob. A developer note says the corrupting kill pays its own loot roll and the re-kill pays two more, so three rolls in all. Each Corruptor's Idol from the Fortress adds +1% corruption chance, up to +7%.
- The Extender makes 30% (T1) to 60% (Chaos) of kills not count toward your task, so the task lasts longer on the mob you're logging. It doesn't add loot rolls to a kill. The Reducer does the opposite: a kill can count as two for the task but still gives one loot roll, so leave it off while logging. Both come from treasure chests.
- Track your loot rolls. In game, Collections shows each mob's loot rolls, and so does hovering a slay task. Enter them in the mob drop tables so the odds and the luck stat use your real numbers.
Chests
Bard actions drop treasure scrolls; finish their steps by walking past the targets or through Discover, and each scroll becomes a treasure chest of its tier. A chest makes 1 loot roll at T0 up to 6 at T10, and each roll can hit the D1 and D2 tools, a compass, coin purse, looter's sack or wayfarer's wrap, and The Extender or The Reducer. Those are all log entries, and higher-tier chests roll more often.
A plan
- Pick up easy quests as you go, and aim for Luck 25 if Alms is already there. Each skilling item you make or gather for the first time is an entry too.
- Run slay tasks on the Feeble mobs whose tools you're missing, and tick drops in the collection log.
- Move on to the mob with the most missing rares at the best rates, using the drop tables' odds.
- Keep treasure scrolls moving into chests. They feed the log on the side.
- Sign in on the Atlas if you play on more than one device, so your ticks and loot rolls follow you.
